 Sensitivity is a trait of paramount value. Many of us can navigate life better by simply being more open and present to others around us. There are some, however, whose awareness and receptivity goes beyond, extending to the larger realm of nature. Every once in a while, we hear of people who can also commune actively with nature, with crystals and plants, with the planets and the elements. It calls for a heightened presence and receptivity, not to mention persistent effort, to cultivate these finer levels of perception that can decipher the book of nature.

Then there are those gifted few, like Patricia Sheehan, with the depth of presence and sensitivity to commune with realms even beyond our own. There is a natural warmth and lovely demeanor about Pat, a comforting quality of presence. If the eyes are windows to the soul, you can easily sense in her a certain knowing quality of the soul. For Pat is a person with the rare skill and ability to straddle different realms…our world and the spirit world, with equal ease. All put together, it makes her a fascinatingly lovely person to know.

Pat is endowed with several additional gifts. Foremost among them is her compassionate intention, of using her skills selflessly, to relay the spirit guidance she receives, so others can benefit from it. Her mission, she likes to say, is not so much to change how one may feel, as to provide food for thought. It is about expanding horizons.

There is also a scientific, professional rigor about her, which her years of legal background and experience complement perfectly. It is important for her to ensure the validity of the messages she receives, which includes looking for evidence and corroboration. It also goes with her genuine belief, that even a paranormal ability such as hers can be trained for, and learnt and developed systematically. She is thus a willing and generous mentor and teacher, guiding several newer psychics and mediums in their professional advancement.

The world of spirits, according to Pat, is as real as our own. Spirits, of course, have their hierarchies, from seraphs and cherubs to the archangels and angels, and our own near and dear ones who have passed on to the other side. There are boundaries to respect here, and protections to set up. A prior internal work of cleansing is essential, to be able to work with the light, with positive energies, and eschew the negative.

Communing with spirits can only be possible, according to Pat, by raising our vibrations to their level. The quiet conviction in her voice certainly makes this ring true. Pat herself uses a specific protocol to raise her vibratory state, before she opens herself up to communication. It leads one to think about how we naturally change frequency, metaphorically, based on who we speak with. After all, speaking to children, who overflow with innate curiosity and wonder, requires attuning to their world. Addressing a hard-nosed business audience, by contrast, requires a different pitch to tune to.

As with all people in search of excellence, Pat’s mastery owes as much to her gifts and skills, as to her sincere humility in wanting to learn and progress more. She wishes she had had more opportunities to train with her mother, an extraordinarily gifted psychic and healer of her days. At some point, she also intends writing a book, that will help introduce people to how spirituality works on the other side, and the sacred connectedness of all worlds including our own.
